S.E.R.E. 2 G.O.I. was accepted into service in the special forces of the Italian Navy, as its development is under S.E.R.E. 1, created by a research group of special forces operators,
martial arts and survival techniques experts. The new variant has been redesigned at the request of the Italian Navy.
The acronym stands for “Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape”/”Survival, escape, resistance and flight”, the four concepts of high risk military capture training courses.
S.E.R.E. 2 G.O.I. It was created as a working knife. The unique grip, unlike classic blades of this type, is designed to be used between the index and middle finger, forming a straight line from the tip of the blade to the wrist, thus allowing reverse grip. The grip has the same ergonomics as the stock of a firearm. This grip allows for instinctive and immediate use.
The central hole in the blade, which has the function of making the knife lighter reminds us of the maritime origin of its creators. The particularity of the knife is specially designed to be used even without the handle; the two holes in the part, intended for the handle, facilitate this. The opposite side of the blade is characterized by serration, ideal for cutting rope, and at the lower end below the beginning of the handle there are two replaceable blades for another type of cutting (on a rope). Two spare plates are also included in the set.
The Kydex holster has a basic fixation, which can be changed independently by the operators with the help of a hexagon included in the kit. The knife comes with a double guard, which is fixed as on the right, also on the left side. It depends on the user.
